the Amanar

Amanar (2003) is an improvement of Aligourane (1995), after several years of fertile debates between Tuareg scholars, in Niger and in Paris. These are five non-copyright fonts designed for the Tuaregs in their traditional writing system which they call tifinagh (letters). The aim is to allow the Tuaregs at last to use their own script with modern technologies of writting. With five weights of type, a new vowel system, optical corrections and the main regional variants available for certain letters, Amanar allows you to organize information, makes for easy reading and saves paper. To keep alive this writing system - one of the rare living.
